Creating intricate animations

Animations can make simple linear movements or combinations of movements with the addition of some special effects. Watch an animation on TV, in a movie, or within a computer game and try to identify as many changes as you can.

If you watch carefully, you see the objects move in several ways, and you see changes oc- cur that do not involve movement. While the object moves in a particular direction, it might also move parts of itself in other ways.

For instance, a bird flying also moves its wings up and down at the same time. The bird might also change the angle of its body in some way. This overlapping action makes the object seem more alive. VSE Animation Maker allows you to create overlapping action and other special effects. This chapter explains in detail how to work with overlapping action. Suggestions at the end of the chapter discuss special effects you can add to an animation.
